Professor Demers is a particle physicist who studies the fundamental particles and forces of nature. Her recent work has focused on the characterization of the Higgs Boson and a measurement of tau polarization with the ATLAS Collaboration at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider. Demers received her bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and her PhD from the University of Rochester. She was a postdoctoral researcher with Stanford’s SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory before joining Yale’s faculty in 2009. While at Yale she has received an Early Career Award grant from the Department of Energy and the Yale Provost Teaching Award.
She also collaborates with professional dancer, writer and director of the Yale Dance Studies Curriculum Emily Coates. Demers and Coates co-teach a Physics of Dance class together at Yale and are writing a coursebook under contract with Yale University Press.
