Erik Hoel

Erik Hoel received his PhD in neuroscience from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and is now a postdoctoral researcher at Columbia University. His family owns Jabberwocky Books, an independent bookstore anchored for more than 40 years in Newburyport MA. He is the co-founder of YHouse, a non-profit here in New York City that hosts events which bring together artists and scientists. His fiction and essays have appeared in The Atlantic, The Daily Beast, American Fiction, and others; and his work as a scientist has appeared in outlets like Nautilus, Scientific American, Wired, and Quanta.
